Hey I was just wondering where you get your samples from. (Recorded? Synthesized? Sampled? Layered beyond recognition?), because it affects how I organize my samples. It would be helpful that information was on every free samples post.
I get them from all over. Some are packs I picked up, some are recorded off records, some drum machines. I even have a few from a couple drum kits I mic'd up myself. This kit I got from my friend. I'm not sure where he got it from, but I can see if he remembers.
Hey Cheebs wats up, just came across your blog last night and im stoked on it cuz i been asking some people questions and not many producers get back at me but anyways i have two questions 1. when you sample do you use mp3s or better qaulity stuff like cd qaulity tracks
and 2. (this might not be as easy a qeustion to answer cuz i feel their are a bunch of ways but any ways) ive been making my beats and i feel im gettin to something but i need a lil variance the 4 bars looped over 4 times is alright but i was wondering if you can give me some hints or tips on how i can build mybeats up to give them some variety and keeep the listener entertain. i know its sort of an opened ended question but any help would ...help thanks
Yeah, I hate it when people don't get back to you with simple questions. I had to search for a lot of answers myself.
1- I get it mostly from MP3, but sometimes i get it off record. I don't use cd's that often cos you can get records way cheaper than used cd's.
2- A good way to switch it up is doing things like dropping the kick out on the beginning 5th bar, putting in extra hi hats in at some places or change the drum samples you use for a couple hits or even put a high pass filter on the ones you have for a bar. There are a ton of ways to change it up. Get some of my drum packs and test them out.
thanks alot yes pointing me in the right dirrection im gonna test it out in a minute but im a lil bet busy but ill be back i love the site and if its kool ill probably ask some more questions but thanks anyways

Hey everyone! I've been getting a lot of people wanting me to DJ sets recently and I am trying to get a version of Scratch Live of my very own. Every donation from now on will go towards that. As of now i have 10 dollars towards it! WOO HOO!! I'll keep you posted with the progress! Any donation will help. For every donation 10 bucks and over I will give you a free 50 MB drum pack that I put together with the best shit I can find! THANKS!!
